With a warm heart I am happy to announce that I will be pursuing my MFA at The School of Visual Arts in NYC this coming fall. In addition, I will be working in a full time assistantship for the department.
I have been sitting on this information for the past month or so, and it is only now beginning to feel real to me as all the pieces are falling into place. I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way, from my asking of advice to wonderful feedback on my application. I am beyond excited for this positive change and the opportunity to not only to push myself and my work forward, but to also connect with old friends and make new ones in the city.
Thank you all & New York here I come.
Real-Un-Real are experiments in photography’s relationship to abstraction. Through this series I want to give the viewer an image that they can engage with in a way outside of our regular perception of reality. The motivation is to create photographs based on pure aesthetics that have the same rules as an abstract painting piece. The visual noise in the works become a cacophony that only allows for bits and pieces of recognized forms to emerge, tricking the viewer and acting as sanctuary for the restless eye. The segments of nude in the works is the most human and relatable imagery for me. It has always acted as a source of calm and beauty in my work, and provides the visual clues that keep the viewer engaged and searching the piece the piece for answers.

It will also be on display at a show I curated "Mirror With A Memory, Alternative Process Photography in the 20th Century" at Peter Miller Fine Art opening October 20th! Hope you can make it!
